Since 1947, Pedley Knowles & Co (PK Safety) based in Alameda, California, has been an online retailer specializing in industrial and personal protective equipment for workers nationwide. As the graphic designer there, I was part of a small creative team responsible for producing visual content — product photography, digital and printed marketing materials, and some brand refresh work. Justin, the copywriter I worked closely with, once said something that made an incredible impact on me: "Edward, remember that we sell products that save people's lives." It reframed how I saw the work and reminded me that what we were doing was important. Below are some examples from my time there.

PK Safety operates as a direct-to-consumer and a part of my role there was to update old photos of the store's inventory. I worked closely with the videographer, who introduced me to the use of softboxes, which we had two, as well as a DSLR.
I was also in charge of the post-production, where I retouched and color-corrected the images before cropping and uploading them to the store website or in other materials like the digital banners shown below, which I also created.

I also assisted with creating branded infographics and various size charts.
Towards the end of my time at PK Safety, we began to consider doing a brand refresh. The draft below was one of the directions in development.
